Old Pueblo Traders

Old Pueblo Traders began selling Southwestern fashions, moccasins, and Native American crafts and jewelry in 1946 by direct mail. Many customers first discovered them in their retail store in Tucson, Arizona.

By the 1960’s, Old Pueblo Traders had a large, glossy catalog that was mailed to thousands of customers. By 1990 that number had grown to millions.

Over the years their focus has shifted away from crafts and jewelry to fashions and shoes.

OPT has a broad audience of baby-boomer women. OPT offers easy-care, easy-wear products at an affordable price. Old Pueblo Traders offers brand-names that the customers look for and a size selection that can’t be beat.

Their philosophy on customer service is the same as it always was. “Your satisfaction is always our first priority”. In addition, fair pricing and unique selection have won Old Pueblo Traders a loyal following.

Sears Catalog

Richard Sears printed his first mailers in 1888 to advertise watches and jewelry. By 1894 the catalog had become “Book of Bargains: A Money Saver for Everyone.” and offered clothing, sewing machines, saddles, firearms, and even buggies. At that time most of the Sears Catalog was written by Richard Sears himself.

Sears, Roebuck and Co. became known for quality products and customer satisfaction. By 1895, the Sears Catalog was 532-pages with the largest variety of products anyone could imagine. By 1906 the Sears Catalog was known as “The Consumers’ Bible”

In 1933, Sears started producing the now famous “Sears Wishbook” in addition to their annual Christmas catalog.

In 1993, Sears discontinued the general merchandise catalog, but continued to print specialty catalogs for merchandise such as the Craftsman Power and Hand Tools. In 2007 Sears slowly returned to producing catalogs, adding new titles like Simply Indoors, Simply Outdoors, Smart Kitchens, The Workwear Authority and Wish Book Toys.

Burpee Gardening Catalog

Burpee Seeds began in Philadelphia in 1876 when 18 year old Washington Atlee Burpee borrowed $1000 from his mother to start his own seed company. Originally Burpee sold not only garden seeds, but also farm supplies, tools, and even livestock. By 1915 W. Atlee Burpee & Co was mailing a million catalogs a year.

David Burpee, the founder’s son, took over the Burpee Seed when his father died in 1915 and made flowers one of the company’s highest priorities and initiated several flower breeding programs. He sold the company to general foods in 1970. David Burpee remained as a consultant until his death in 1980.

The Burpee Gardening Catalog offers a wide variety of vegetables and plants, perennial and annual flowers and plants and seeds, and herb seeds. Products in the Burpee Gardening Catalog are available for all growing zones and all seasons. Burpee products are fully guaranteed.
